I believe art is an important bridge in education. Whether it is science, math or history, art makes interdisciplinary connections that improve understanding. I personally feel that the process of making art is of tremendous value. Art demands critical thinking and planning. Trial and error, experimentation and adaptation are integral to learning and creating in art. Equally important, art allows for personal reflection and expression, inevitably changing the way we see the world.
Every student deserves excellent teachers. Each day I strive to challenge, support and engage my students with meaningful lessons. I know how important art is to intellectual and social development and I have seen how it reaches students that learn differently. I view the responsibility of providing students with an art education as an honor and an opportunity to make a positive impact on their growth as people.
